Like all fashion, dressing stylishly is all about drawing attention to the strengths and detracting from and hiding the weaknesses. Fashion is not just for size zero, there are supremely fashionable and stylish collections available to the all sizes. Good style sense is the same regardless of size and there are a number of key rules that should be followed:
- Know your body shape;
- Wear the correct size;
- Buy key pieces;
- Accessorise;
- Do not be afraid of colour, but also be aware of when enough is enough;
- Be confident in what is worn, feeling good on the inside helps with looking good on the outside.
Knowing the rules and applying them are two different things, the essentials in this season’s wardrobe for those who want to flatter their shape are:
- A blazer or boyfriend jacket, but go for the single breasted style;
- Tunic top and full length leggings, avoid shorter leggings as these tend to shorten the bodyline;
- Fun patterned Maxi dresses for daywear and full length evening dresses for night time
- Good jeans such as boot cut or skinny flares;
- Florals and paler colours are in vogue for spring and there are plenty of fitted longer styles available that can be matched with jeans, jeggings or leggings; and
- For work a pair of well cut, good fitting trousers are essential these can be teamed with any of the various boyfriend type shirts still in for spring.
Once the essentials have been purchased they can be mixed and matched and some accessories will enhance the effect such as a bright colourful bag or scarf to lift an outfit or a chunky bracelet pr belt to add some fun.
